Post Office, Potassium Tantalum Fluoride Producer are Latest OSHA Star Sites
OSHA has certified the U.S. Postal Service's Westlake Post Office in Bethesda, Md., and Cabot Supermetals in Boyertown, Pa., as its latest star sites, the highest level in the agency's Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP). In separate ceremonies, both facilities were presented with a VPP star flag in recognition of their excellent workplace safety and health records, maintaining an injury and illness rate below their industries' average for three years, OSHA announced Monday.
The Westlake Post Office has 176 employees who process both incoming and outgoing mail and passports. Cabot, with 180 employees, refines tantalum and niobium ores and produces potassium tantalum fluoride.
OSHA notes that VPP is open to all industries and designed for worksites with comprehensive, successful safety and health programs. The Bethesda and Boyertown facilities join more than 2,030 worksites nationwide that have earned entry into the program.
