AIHA Increases Green Initiatives at Conference & Expo

Businesses everywhere are "Going Green," and this year's event is no exception. At AIHce 2008, the American Industrial Hygiene Association is implementing green initiatives that were developed from attendees' suggestions/requests, numerous green meeting Web sites and white papers, and EPA's Pollution Prevention Division and the Green Meeting Industry Council's recommendations.

AIHA Publishes 2008 Consultants List

Released in conjunction with next week's AIHce, the updated list contains more than 700 consultants and 400 companies, according to the association.

AIHA Returns Home for IH Fundamentals Course

Long after AIHce 2008 has closed its doors, the American Industrial Hygiene Association will continue to offer further educational and networking events. AIHA's Fundamentals of Industrial Hygiene course, held on June 16-19 in Evanston, Ill., is for those who may be new to IH or have newly acquired IH responsibilities.

Free Workshops on Auto Body Repair EHS Regulations

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and its state and local partners will offer free seminars on June 4 and 5 to educate the auto body repair community on the latest environmental regulations affecting their businesses in Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Md.. The workshops will also include demonstrations in best practices by an experienced auto finisher, as well as offer pollution prevention techniques that will save time and reduce waste.

The American Industrial Hygiene Association's 2008 CareerAdvantage Job Fair is currently taking place at AIHce 2008 through tomorrow, from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Sponsored by the AIHA Career and Employment Services Committee, the job fair is intended to facilitate connections between employers and occupational and environmental health and safety (OEHS) professionals. In addition, it also provides valuable opportunities for companies to maximize their exposure when searching for employees.

Luncheon Discussions Give Food for Thought

At this point, if you haven't yet attended one of the many luncheon discussions happening at AIHce 2008, then you've missed out on a lot of useful information, including the every-popular "Unsolved IH Mysteries" luncheons that took place yesterday and the "NIOSH Emerging Issues/Current Trends" luncheons that were held earlier today. All hope is not lost, though, as there is still time to salvage what is left to offer by attending the last luncheon discussions scheduled for tomorrow from noon to 1 p.m., titled "Volunteer Group Tech Talks."

New Board Members to be Inducted at AIHA Annual Business Meeting

In late March, the American Industrial Hygiene Association announced the results of its 2008 election for the AIHA Board of Directors. The new board members will be inducted into their new office at AIHA's annual business meeting tomorrow at AIHce 2008.
